Ted Leonsis Inducted into Greater Washington Sports Alliance Hall of Champions
Six Capitals attend third annual SneakerBall

WASHINGTON, D.C. Washington Capitals chairman and majority owner Ted Leonsis was inducted into the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Hall of Champions Tuesday night at the third annual SneakerBall. Washington Capitals players Matt Bradley, Chris Clark, Ben Clymer, Steve Eminger, Brooks Laich and Brian Sutherby all attended the event at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Steve Buckhantz of Comcast SportNet emceed while James Brown of CBS Sports and Morgan Wooten, legendary DeMatha High School basketball coach, were honored with Leonsis. Many local athletes were in attendance including Nakia Sanford of the Mystics, Caron Butler of the Wizards, Freddy Adu and Jaime Moreno of D.C. United, Ovie Mughelli of the Baltimore Ravens and gymnast Dominique Dawes.

 

 

“I had a great time tonight,” said Caps captain Chris Clark. “I was happy to be on hand to support Ted and it was fun to meet the other athletes at the event. I also enjoyed sitting at the AOL table.”

SneakerBall raised money for the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation, which supports regional youth investment organizations that use sports to build character and leadership, encourage physical fitness and enhance education.
