Florida Panthers and Alumni Assist Florida Scholastic Hockey League Fundraising Efforts
The FSHL could potentially raise up to $26,400 through Florida Panthers Ticket Sales

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers Alumni Association announced today they have committed to continue helping the Florida Scholastic Hockey League (FSHL). Over the past six years, they have teamed up to create a unique initiative to help individual FSHL teams raise funds by selling discounted group priced tickets and keeping a portion of the proceeds.

The BankAtlanic Center also provides FSHL with a first class venue for team competition. This season, the FSHL has played two complimentary games out of the 12 scheduled at the BankAtlantic Center, home of the Florida Panthers.

“The Florida Panthers Alumni Association has been very supportive of, and very generous to the Florida Scholastic Hockey League,” said FSHL President Peter Pearlman.” “Each year the FPAA donates funds to the FSHL, sponsors the FSHL ALL-STAR GAME & SKILLS COMPETITION (Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Incredible Ice), and sponsors a deserving high school junior/senior for the Chicago Showcase. The FSHL’s relationship with the FPAA is invaluable.”

The Florida Panthers also assist the FSHL in their fundraising efforts by providing added value to the game they are promoting including access to the best seats, in-game welcome and recognition, participation during in-game promotions, and the opportunity to set up a booth during Panthers home games.

“The Florida Panthers Alumni Association is so happy to have been a part of the success of FSHL again this year,” said President of Alumni Association Randy Moller. “Our participation with FSHL will enable the Panthers Alumni Association and Florida Panthers to stay involved in the community which is something we love to do.”

In the spring, the Alumni Association will sponsor a deserving FSHL player who, despite his talents, would otherwise be denied the privilege of participating in this prestigious tournament, the Chicago Showcase.

The Chicago Showcase is the only venue that allows high school players from all areas of the country the opportunity to compete against one another and allow high school players who are not traditionally scouted, the chance to be seen by every major hockey program in the United States. The Showcase will consist of 24 teams and over 550 of the top players from across the country.

The FSHL All-Star game will also be sponsored by the Alumni Association and played at incredibleICE, the Florida Panthers practice facility in the spring.

FSHL schedule of games is as follows:

December 2
December 7
December 12
January     10
January     13
January     16
January     18
January      27
February    1

All games are from 3 - 4:45p.m. here at the BankAtlantic Center. Friends, family, and the general public are welcome and the games are free.

The Florida Scholastic Hockey League is Florida's premiere high school hockey league. Founded in 1998, the FSHL has undergone exponential growth. The League has blossomed from only four teams in Broward and Palm Beach Counties to over fifty teams in two conferences encompassing the entire state.

The Florida Panthers Alumni Association was formed, in part to assist former players with their transition from being a player to becoming active and productive members in the South Florida business and social community.  In addition, the association helps support the Florida Panther’s Hockey Club with their numerous corporate, community and civic events projects.
