WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington Capitals right wing Chris Clark, center Boyd Gordon and defenseman Jamie Heward hosted Let’s Have Fun, Let’s Play Pond Hockey Jan. 10, at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Md.

The program, the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region, is designed to introduce the game of hockey to everyone without the high costs.

Clark, Gordon and Heward scrimmaged with the 75 program participants who are all beginner skaters under the age of 12. The Capitals players also took group photos with the participants and signed autographs.

“It’s great to be able to get out onto the ice with kids just learning the game,” Gordon said. “It’s a good feeling to know that you’re giving back to the sport, and encouraging kids to participate and improve their skills.”
