Late goals allow Carolina to stun Devils

 

NEWARK, N.J. —The Carolina Hurricanes stole their first-round series from the New Jersey Devils with one of the greatest last-minute comebacks in NHL history.

The North American Hockey League announced today its Most Valuable Player,
Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Goaltender of the Year and its nominee for the Dave Tyler USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year, along with its All-NAHL Team, for the 2008-09 season.

 

League MVP Keith Kinkaid will attend Union College next season.

In this Sunday, April 26, 2009, photo, New York Rangers' Paul Mara, right, goes after Washington Capitals' Donald Brashear after Brashear leveled Rangers' Blair Betts during the first period of an NHL first-round hockey playoff game in New York. Brashear was suspended Monday, April 27, by the NHL for a total of six games--five for what the league called a "blind-side hit" on Betts--and will miss Game 7 of the teams' first-round playoff series.

While a Sally-come-lately-to-this-series like Ms. Jenkins certainly excels at grave dancing, painting an accurate picture of the New York Rangers' battle against the Washington Capitals may be asking too much.
