The Total Package Hockey (TPH) Thunder Girls Pee Wee U12 girls team, based in the Southeastern US, skated away with the Girls Silver Stick Pee Wee Division B Championship in Sarnia, Ontario this past weekend in their first year of competition. A huge accomplishment by any standard of measure!
The Thunder Girls home rinks are Southern Ice Arena in Franklin, Tennessee, Huntsville Municipal rink and the Marietta Ice Center in Atlanta. There are two Thunder Girls teams: U12 and U16. There are currently over 40 girls in Nashville, Huntsville and Atlanta who are playing for the TPH program.

The Thunder Girls U12 team traveled to Sarnia, Ontario February 10-12 for the 8th Annual Women's Silver Stick Tournament Finals and won the Pee Wee U12 Division B championship. They went 5-0 on the weekend. There were eight teams in their division (six from Canada and two from the US).
The Thunder captured the Opening Ceremony feature game against the home town Sarnia, Ontario team, then beat two other Canadian teams in the preliminary round to reach the semifinals.

They faced the Canton Michigan Crush in the semifinals, who is the No. 1 ranked "Tier 2" U12 team in the United States (according to www.nationalhockeyrankings.com ), and beat them 2-1 in a 4-overtime game.

They were then matched up again with the hometown Sarnia girls team in the championship game, skating to a thrilling 1-0 victory by scoring with 1:18 left in the game. It's the kind of story that movies are made of.
TPH Coaches with Tournament Chairman Bryan Chapple

The local sports media in Sarnia, Ontario took an interest in the Thunder because they were considered a novelty team because they came from the south and had traveled the farthest away for the tournament.
